BETTER CHOICES
Stronger products
Producing clothes will always leave a footprint on our planet. Reducing it isn’t a quick-fix, but an ever-evolving process where finding new, innovative materials, production techniques, and sources of energy is key. It’s important for us to create high-quality activewear that you can love for a long time and in that way, reduce consumption. We educate our designers in circular design and make sure we stay updated on the latest innovations and techniques. We know we still have a long way to go, but we are committed to do whatever it takes to become a more responsible version of ourselves.
A step in the right direction is to use more recycled materials and limit our usage of new textiles. Today, 60% of our assortment is made from recycled materials such as recycled polyester and recycled polyamide.
CURRENT INITIATIVES
Recycled polyester is most commonly made from post-consumer PET-bottles. The material has the same qualities as virgin polyester, but takes less resources to extract. It is strong, sweat-wicking, and quick-drying, which makes the ultimate material for activewear. Lastly, recycled polyester gives a second life to a material that’s not biodegradable and saves it from ending up in landfill or in the ocean.
Econyl is produced from fishing nets, fabric scraps, and other nylon waste saved from landfill and the ocean. Through an advanced regeneration process, the nylon waste is recycled back to its original form - giving it the exact same qualities as nylon produced from fossil materials. This process can be repeated infinitely and creates the possibility to produce new products, without having to use new resources. Econyl is flexible, lightweight and highly breathable - making it the perfect material for beachwear.
Our beachwear that isn’t made from Econyl is usually made from recycled polyamide. This material is mainly made from pre-consumer fabric waste and post-consumer materials like industrial fishing nets. Recycled polyamide has the exact same qualities as regular polyamide - it’s durable, stretchy, and quick-drying.
Producing activewear means creating samples that get tested and perfected. Even though these samples don’t make it to our site, we make sure they end up in someone’s wardrobe. We resell our samples through Re-Adventure and donate our profits to The Kvinna till Kvinna Foundation.
